God Leads Us Along - Arranged July, 2020 in Sib. Piano only, in G.

God's Heros - MR wrote this song some 20 years ago, based on ideas from the famous faith chapter in Hebrews 11. It is here missing its very fun and essential guitar part, but has piano, elec. bass, and light precussion, digitalized in Sibelius. Jan and Michael have sung this one as a duet many times in church concerts. Congregations usually enjoy hearing about Daniel and the "lions lyin' here and lions lyin' there."

Goodbye World, Goodbye - Hear the piano score to this southern gospel arr. by MR. The guitar which is the primary instrument is missing, and is performed live. Here is piano, elec. bass and light percussion, digitalized in Sibelius.

His Strength Is Perfect - Steven Curtis Chapman - arr. MR - for Julianne Norman, CPC - July, 2019: piano, elec. bass, and digital voice.

His Strength Is Perfect - Listen and simultaneously see the score.

Holy, Holy, Holy - Solo for Jan done in Sib. MR wrote new melodies for this historic hymn tune. Organ, strings, percussion and bass are on this track with low ah's. Missing is the principal accompanying instrument: the guitar, which Sibelius cannot duplicate, and is only attainable in live performance.

Holy, Holy, Holy - Prerecorded background for performance: SANS guitar and vocal solo.

Holy, Holy, Holy - Prerecorded background for performance: WITH GUITAR - sans vocal

Holy, Holy, Holy - FULL PERF. - Jan sings this early 1800's Anglican hymn, considered to be one of the most ubiquitous hymns in the English language, appearing in a wide spread of denominational hymnals. Michael plays his 1969 Martin D-35 acoustic guitar, featuring the complex finger-picking styles heard in folk music. The guitar is in G-tuning. MR wrote the three differing melodies in this arrangement, the first being a stylized working of the traditional hymn tune, and the second and third verse tunes being original melodies, thus rather making the hymn a tone poem.

Humble Thyself in the Sight of the Lord - Digital Perf. - Piano, elec. bass, perc. and ahs. In Am for Jan's alto solo. Guitar (which is missing here) is the principle accompaniment.

Humble Thyself in the Sight of the Lord - PRE-RE - Piano, elec. bass, perc. and very low ahs.

Humble Thyself in the Sight of the Lord - PRE-RE - SANS PIANO - Piano, elec. bass, perc. and very low ahs.

I Am Jesus' Little Lamb - Digital performance - June 2020 (during the pandemic): This melody was written by Mark Shepperd; the poem is from the 18th c. by Henrietta Luis von Hayn. Arr. MR, for alto solo, piano, elec. bass, flute, and strings. Jan will sing this when the world heals. The guitar (the piano was expressly written to fit the guitar accompaniment) is not on this digital performance track (beyond Sibelius' skills), and of course, the vocal solo is represented by digital ahs.

I Am Jesus' Little Lamb - June 2020 - Pre-re background for live performance. PIANO

I Am Jesus' Little Lamb - June 2020 - Pre-re background for live performance - SANS PIANO

I Come With Joy - demo from Sib. and Sound Forge - 8-1-18 - This early American tune is called "Land of Rest," and was first published in 1844 in Sacred Harp. There are several sets of words, but Jan sang communion lyrics for this presentation for 8-3-18, with piano and mountain dulcimer.

The tune is not quite pentatonic, having two brief passing appearances of the 4th degree of the scale, but it has the shape and feel of a pentatonic hymn tune. The piano is purposely rather plain and repetative, being influenced by the dulcimer, which drones on C and G throughout.

I Love You, Lord - Prerecorded track of he praise song with piano and elec. bass.

I Sing a Song of the Saints of God - FULL RECORDING - This early 20th c. Anglican hymn is a favorite of Jan's; they used to sing it with the children at St. Thomas Episcopal Church School while she was a 1st grade teacher for 25 years. It is heard in the American Episcopalian churches, esp. on All Saints Day. She sings it here, to an arr. by Michael Roy. It was, by the way, recorded on All Saints Day, Nov. 1, 2020.

I Sing a Song of the Saints of God - FOR REHEARSAL - SANS solo and recorder - but no  orchestral parts!

I Sing a Song of the Saints of God - FOR RECORDER SOLO - SANS recorder obbligato parts. Solo and orchestra only.

I Will Arise - PRE-RE - This mix: piano, full strings, electric bass, and incidental recorder sections. The early American hymn tune is pure pentatonic. This arrangement is elaborately contrapuntal between the vocal lead, the recorder and the piano. Note: the key is Bm - D, but the guitar plays capoed up two frets in Am - C

I Will Arise - FULL PERFORMANCE with Jan's solo, MR on guitar and tenor recorder.

Joy to the World - Piano score in G for alto solo and in C for Bagpipes. Dec. 24, 2021

Once In Royal David's City - demo from Sib. and Sound Forge - 11-16-18 - Woodwind trio for flute, clarinet and alto sax, and piano: this is an existing arr. for two flutes that was expanded to three winds. It features three sections and a coda ending. The initial section is a languid sounding

of the hymntune with solos for all three inst's. The second part is more animated and whimsical. The third is a perfect canon, with a 4-beat separation of the parts; the canon modulates up a full tone, and the separation is sandwiched to only 2 beats, sounding more cachophonous than canonical. It concludes with sonorous harmonies both in the winds and piano. Hear below, a live performance of this arr. with flute and bass flute (and piano).

Once In Royal David's City: This poem was written by Cecil Frances Alexander in 1848. She also wrote "All Things Bright and Beautiful." MR has arranged this hymntune, written by Henry

John Gauntlet in 1849, for two flutes and piano; the arrangement was written to also work as a flute solo. MR played the principal flute part in live performance and later in the studio overdubbed the bass flute to achieve the duet. Diane M. is at the piano.

Past Three O'Clock - Digital Performance: piano, bass, perc., strings, ahs on vocals; missing the principle accompanying inst. (acoustic guitar), which is played live. This old English carol tune is called "London Waits," which refers to the "waits" who were nightwatchmen and town criers who waited (roamed the streets) on London from dusk to dawn, watching for burglars, any mayhem, and esp. fires. The wait calls out, "Past three o'clock," and if all was well, the time was the message.

Past Three O'Clock - PRE-RE for perf. - Piano, bass, perc. strings, no ahs

Pastoral Symphony - from Messiah - G. F. Handel - strings and woodwinds

Poor Wayfaring Stranger: (arr. - MR) Piano score from Sibelius, with elec. bass, strings. (Dec. 2018). I have sung this basic arrangement for many decades. It is esp. arranged for guitar as principle accompaniment, despite there being a compelling piano score here.

Precious Lord, Take My Hand - For August, 2019, CPC summer music. Scored for alto solo and piano, with banjo, quatro, and harmonica. Tune is scored both in its original 3/4 and in 4/4.  4:36
